EUREKA COPS TOP PERFORMERS AWARD

The Department of Labor and Employment and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration handed the Top Performers Award (2002-2005) to Eureka Personnel & Management Services, Inc. in a fitting ceremony held at the Manila Pavilion Hotel on January 31 this year during the 2005 Agency Performance Awards night.  Adopting for last year’s theme “Sustaining the Global Quest for Decent Job Opportunities for Overseas Filipino Workers”, the Agency Performance Awards is a two-decade-old DOLE’s way of giving due recognition to the top performers in the overseas manpower supply industry in the country through POEA for their outstanding and exemplary performance in the field of overseas employment of Filipino workmen. In giving such awards, the government also recognizes their vital role in uplifting the quality of life of millions of Filipinos by providing them with gainful occupation abroad.

EUREKA, giving decent overseas jobs to tens of thousands of Filipino workmen since 1978, is one of the very few surviving pioneers in the recruitment business.  It has also been responsible for breaking new grounds for Filipino labor in such places as Eritrea, East Africa; Palau, Republic of Palau; Kazakhstan; Sakhalin, Russia; Curacao, Netherlands Antilles; and Equatorial Guinea, Africa.  Only recently, three of its clients, Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., Saudi Oger, Ltd. and Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd., received the Presidential Award of Distinction from PGMA at Malacañan Palace and the Ministerial Citation from Sec. Patricia Sto. Tomas of the Department of Labor and Employment.   EUREKA was earlier given a special citation by POEA for having deployed the largest number of skilled workers abroad from 2000 to 2002.

Present to receive the award from DOLE Sec. Patricia A. Sto. Tomas and POEA Administrator Rosalinda-Dimapilis-Baldoz were Samuel A. Laus (General Manager), Divine L. Viray (Overseas Marketing Director) and Jojie L. Alas (Managing Director).  Also gracing the awarding rites were DOLE Undersecretary Danilo P. Cruz and POEA Deputy Administrator Carmelita S. Dimzon.
